What is a Zoomer ?

Well, from my research, a Zoomer is a person belonging to the "Baby Boomer" generation, who wants to remain active and adventurous, and maintain a bit of ZIP. The term was generally popularized by a guy named Moses Znaimer and was more narrowly defined by Dr. David Demko in ZoomerBoomerMagazine.

To be honest, I've been looking for a better general term to replace Senior Citizen or Baby Boomer to address my tribe in various Blogs and On-Line Media endeavors. I'm thinking I've found it. In my mind, Zoomers embodies exactly what is missing from the previously mentioned, and never again to be mentioned terms for us "grownups" (a term that isn't really terrible either). I am a Zoomer ! and I wear the badge proudly and it's my belief that this term fits for most of us.

By the way, My name is David Hansen, and I am a 52 year old early retiree. A little too early as things are turning out, and, unfortunately, I doubt that I am alone in that little situation. I am a Building Architect by training and career, and I have since dabbled with Art, Small Business, and Home Development. My S/O and I own a boutique Salon / Spa business and I maintain a small Design / Development Concern.

With an extensive, Design and Graphics background I have migrated to interests in Web Design and Blog development. My current Blogs, in addition to this one, are Simple Green Design and Ecuador Escape.

My vision is to bring the use of the Internet and Social Media to the demographic that perhaps needs it the most, and is least prepared for the changes occurring across business and society. My hope is to develop a scalable Internet Media business with a target market of Baby Boomers (Zoomers) with an emphasis and specialty in developing basic Internet & Social Media skills and applications, for my clients, for both personal and small business purposes.
